iPad in Education Resources from ISTE 2010

As promised to many on the waiting lists, we're posting the iPad in Education workshop resources here at CUE.org. While this is no substitute for being in the room as Steve Dembo (or Robert Craven) leads the session in person, here are the workshop outlines and resources:
iPad in Education Workshop
Feel free to play along with the "Share Your Favorite Apps" activity. :)

If you'd like to register for an iPad in Education workshop yourself, you can see what's currently open for registration from CUE. Or, if you'd like to bring the iPad in Education workshop to your own site, district, or region, you can request the workshop via the CUEtoYOU professional development program.

'Best of CUE 2010,' FREE Webinar Series Continues

CUE launched a new program to recognize the twenty-five presenters from the CUE 2010 Conference held in Palm Springs in March. These twenty-five outstanding presenters were chosen by conference attendees 'voting' through session evaluations and attendance. Check out the LIST!
Best of all - we've asked them for an encore!
Didn't get to see their sessions at the conference? We're bringing them back! In a brand new program, CUE is hosting several FREE 'Best of CUE' webinars featuring encore presentations of these speakers beginning next week. The first five of these webinars are generously sponsored by Fresno Pacific University. Don't miss out on the next one:

Poetry in Motion: Making Movies without a Camera
Warren Dale, Teacher, Mulholland Middle School
June 15, 4:30-5:30pm

In this session, primarily tools found within Apple's iLife suite of tools will be utilized. Attendees wishing to learn in realtime along with the webinar should plan on using an OS X 10.5 or later Macintosh to participate, or have one nearby. But you can also participate by watching our presenter and asking questions during the webinar on any Internet-enabled computer.

CUE Continues the Call for Distribution of Stimulus (ARRA) Funds

June 2, 2010 UPDATE:
As of now, the EETT/ARRA funds are still being held back by the California Legislature....[but] the issue of the distribution of the EETT/ARRA competitive funding is now to be resolved by the budget conference committee representing the Senate and Assembly Education Finance Committees. Read the details....and send your own letter!

Background:
California's great 'Bait and Switch' trick:
California directed schools and districts across the state to spend millions to support Educational Technology, then failed to distribute the over $72M in stimulus funds to pay for it! Now legislators want to create a whole new program that doesn't conform to state or federal guidelines and would delay getting the money to districts until 2011! CETPA, CCSESA, ACSA, the Children's Partnership and others have joined CUE in this months-long effort to immediately release these funds for their intended purpose. CUE urges its membership, and all Californians to join us by contacting your legislator TODAY and end this reproachable delay in distributing funds to our cash-strapped school districts. Read the letters....
