Hello CUE Los Angeles Colleagues. We will be holding our next local technology fair on November 15, 2008. With so many of you attending the CUE Conference, I am sure there is so much more you would like to learn more about. With many workshops in the planning stages for our local event, please add any ideas regarding possible topics you would like to hear about. And also feel free to use this space to volunteer to facilitate one of the workshops if you so desire.

Hello,

I am glad we are starting planning early and I know now quickly time flies. I look forward to hearing ideas from colleagues about possible workshops. Some of the more popular topics have been podcasting, digital photography, SMARTboards. We might want to think about strands this year to help us with organizing the workshops we offer.

I'd be interested in volunteering to lead a workshop on digital mapping and podcasting with Audacity on a PC.

what kind of digital mapping? that sounds pretty good but when i think of mapping i think of visual maps not audio files.

Hi Kenneth,
I'm just getting into digital mapping. So far I have been geo-tagging pictures and movies and attaching them to google maps. We will be experimenting more with this in July at a digital media conference in Milwaukee.

I'd like to work on podcasting each of the presentations and setting up live mobile roaving radio broad & web casting using Free Open Source Software (FOSS) . I'm pretty sure we can work with http://InDamixx.org who is the developer of such software on the latest hand held devices.

Indamixx is the world's first fully featured hand held recording studio. Indamixx provides a robust multi-track recording environment that allows a user to record, edit, equalize, audition and mix audio, songs or sound files (wav, mp3, ogg vorbis, flac) at sample rates of 16 bit 44.1khz, 48khz or 24 bit at 96khz.

I'd be happy to help out with this. In a couple of weeks we are going to try and stream and record a conference on http://www.ustream.tv . I'll let you know how this goes.

To give everyone perspective on the CUELA Technology Fair, you can take a look at last year's event details at http://www.cuelosangeles.org/techfair. There are also photographs taken at last year's event at CUELA's Hub@CUE: http://www.cuehub.org/1382108251273890/site/default.asp. We are definitely following this discussion thread as your input is vital for the development of the late Fall fair.

How about using some of the new online programs like Voicethread and Slideshare.net?

This year the goals I have for my staff are, 1) creating a webpage for to represent their class on school website, (looking at Google for Educators for that. I do need support and assistance for this. And 2) to develop collaboration, for a group of teachers to develop one project that encompasses technology and 21st Century skills. I know it's a tall order, but I believe we can be done.
