Hey there Frank!
Are you interested in maybe doing a presentation to digital art teachers at the California Arts Education Association conference this next November at the Wilshire in LA? There may also be sessions held at the new LA arts school.
Hi Frank. My name is Nathan and I teach at Emerson Middle School in West LA. Just wanted to say hi. Appreciate the workshop you had in 2008 to get me started on video with my students. It was really helpful.

To my friends at CUE-
I hope your school years are off to smooth start.
You may have heard that AFI closed the Screen Education Center this summer and I and most of the staff were laid-off including my partner Mitch Aiken. AFI Screen Ed was a tremendous opportunity while it lasted and
I'm proud of the work I was able to do in the seminars and resources we created for K-12 educators.
Since then I've been hired part-time by the LA County Office of Education to lead the kind of teacher development workshops for teachers I was doing at AFI. I've just been state credentialed to teach Film/Video and will be piloting a career-track production course at International Polytechnic High School this year.
Look for an announcement about a workshop series through LACOE soon. I'm also available to present a new version of the AFI ScreenEd Workshop called Lights, Camera, Learn! at CUE events and at local schools and districts. For those of you with my outdated AFI contact info, I can now be reached at 101west@gmail.com & frankguttler@afi.com, 818.439.6539

I need to try to post some of our work in there. I got the announcement. I also have to connect with you about some of the amazing, amazing first grade work we've seen recently. I tried to film the kids discussing their screen shots and storyboards. We used the ones you gave us in the Institute. These kids would make you proud. One little girl said: "This will never work, we have to get a better establishing shot for our first scene. They have to see where the Statue of Liberty IS!" 1st grade!
Frank - great to see you on here. I'm hoping that after your AFI presentation at CUE that you and your attendees will consider stopping by our first ever "Video in the Classroom" special interest group meeting. We would love to have you. Next year I hope we can partner with you and deliver even more video-based content at CUE and a great, big, raging reception!

Thanks again for the great "intimate presentation" at the Day of Discovery held in GUSD. Feedback is great, as always.
