Minding the Gap!

Through the past months of preparing for my sessions at CUE, I have made a change in how I look at the assistive devices that we will be discussing Saturday morning. I have changed my focus from assistive technology (AT) in general to a focus on portable devices and Web 2.0 utilities that support students with special academic needs. Students are much more mobile in the school environment than they were even 5 years ago. Wireless networks, smaller devices, and a difference in educator outlook on AT have significantly affected the "where and when" of AT use. We will look at devices that can be used anywhere as well as specific Web 2.0 sites that can be used with students that specific learning difficulties.
